COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

"OTC provided a wonderful opportunity for our son. The chance to experience the tutorial method as well as to live and study with students from all over the world enabled him to grow meaningfully. He will be attending his first choice college in the fall (Trinity College, Hartford, CT)."
Mark and Anne Stoeckle

Those students who are still seeking a college place will often make their application during the time they are with us, and we provide specialist advice for applications to British universities, and are also able to advise on applications to colleges and universities overseas, especially in the USA.

UK UNIVERSITES

The British Higher Education system enjoys a world-wide reputation for excellence, and costs compare very favourably with those of US colleges. British university admissions officers are now much more willing to accept able American candidates on the basis of their US qualifications, and an increasing number of our students from the USA have gone on in recent years to take up places at prestigious British universities, including the University of Oxford itself.

In the QuadApplications to British universities are normally made in November. Specialist advice is offered to help students choose appropriate institutions, research courses, make applications (using the UCAS application system) and bridge the gap between their own educational system and the British system.

Students whose existing qualifications are insufficient for acceptance at a good British university may take classes to improve their SAT and AP scores; alternatively, studying at least one ‘A' level subject will increase their chances of success. Further details and specific information about applications to British universities are provided on request.

US COLLEGES

I'm sure that your recommendation helped secure the place Jeff wanted at Sarah Lawrence. This has been a real growth year for him...thanks for all your help."
Mrs Amy Eckman

Colleges look favourably on applicants who have undertaken academically and culturally challenging experiences on their own initiative. Participation in the Oxford Advanced Studies Program can help give students the edge when applying to competitive institutions, not least because the work they undertake with OASP may have direct bearing on the college courses they later pursue.

For those who have not yet finalised their college place careful assistance is available in completing applications and in producing the college ‘essay'. Grades and reports are compiled for each course of study and these are sent on to prospective colleges, together with teachers' and counsellors' recommendations. For many of our students, the recommendations that they earn in Oxford make the crucial difference in securing acceptance at their first-choice college.
