DIRECTOR'S INTRODUCTION
The Oxford Advanced Studies Program provides a unique and stimulating academic summer opportunity to High School students. Founded in 1984, it attracts young people of high calibre, giving them a foretaste of college-level study together with the chance to visit some of the treasures to be found in this ancient city as well as some of England's heritage beyond.

The program combines stimulating classes which encourage individual response and expression with visits and activities which add a superb 'extra-curricular' dimension. The residential experience emphasises responsibility to the community and enables friendships to form at a deeper level. The setting in the centre of Oxford adds an extra unforgettable dimension.
One-to-one tutorials are at the core of the teaching method. This mode of instruction offers personal attention, constructive appraisal of learning and understanding and encourages greater academic maturity. Students' thinking is allowed to develop in a supportive environment, providing the opportunity to explore topics of particular interest. It is an extremely effective method that students find stimulating and productive.
Our tutors are experts in their subject specialisms and experienced in working with students at this level. Those who enrol with us are typically intellectually enquiring, independent and able to cope with the unusual and the challenging. They are invariably stimulated and inspired by the tutorial environment; their powers of analysis and understanding are likely to develop rapidly in this short time. Most students are planning to attend a competitive college or university and they take full advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their ability to do so!
The medieval city of Oxford offers a superb backdrop of historic scholarship and timeless splendour which is a sure source of inspiration. Far from being simply about academic work, the course includes a full activities schedule, lending an important cultural and social aspect to the overall experience. Our students are given more than a taste of England's heritage, adding to the richness of their time with us.
