INTRODUCTION TO LAW
This course outlines the nature and practices of the English Legal System and, where appropriate, of the impact of European law. The approach to the various topics is divided into theoretical issues and practice and procedure. The theoretical issues include the law of tort, law of contract, common law and equity. Practice and procedure will trace the route undertaken by individuals in settling disputes in the English Courts system, comparing and contrasting alternative routes. Legal terminology will be examined and students will be encouraged to become familiar with this language.
