AP AND SAT COURSES

DiscussionSome students may wish to take Advanced Placement courses, either to improve existing grades, or for the first time. These courses are the closest equivalent to the British ‘A' level.

Our tutors are familiar with the requirements of the Advanced Placement exam and courses are organised as required. These involve careful preparation of the course material and extensive practice from previous exam questions.

"If it were not for the Oxford Advanced Studies Program, I would never have been as prepared or confident about attending college as I was. I thank everyone who made my visit to Oxford one filled with academic excellence."
Alison Brooke Rubinstein

Similarly, SAT courses are provided for those who wish to improve their scores, or take the test for the first time. Recent changes to the SAT exam have increased the emphasis on continuous writing skills, and our staff are experts at working with students to improve these. Success in the SAT test is largely dependent upon practice and answering technique which are emphasised throughout the teaching.

Whilst Advanced Placement exams are not a stipulated entrance requirement for British universities, a good pass will enhance a student's prospects of acceptance and may be accepted as an alternative to ‘A' level. High SAT scores will also make a significant difference to a student's application to Higher Education in the UK. It may therefore be possible for students from the USA to seek acceptance at a British university without the need to take ‘A' levels, but by improving AP and SAT scores. Courses are also provided for those wishing to prepare for the ACT test.
