COURSE OVERVIEW
The Academic Semester in Oxford is an excellent opportunity for students to spend time pursuing their academic interests in Oxford, through teaching in small groups and by the individual tutorial method, as favoured by Oxford and Cambridge universities. Courses take place throughout the academic year, and typically students enrol for between three months (a term) and a full year. The flexibility of the tutorial method means that students can enrol at any time.
The opportunity to undertake a work experience internship as part of the program offers an additional dimension, giving students the chance to experience first-hand the realities of day-to-day working life in a controlled and well-monitored environment. A number of types of internship are offered and these greatly enhance a student's overall experience.
| "We are delighted to have our new and improved son back for the summer. The entire experience at OASP has obviously had a very positive effect on him and I think it will remain an important chapter in his life forever. We thank you for giving him the opportunity and for your skilled guidance of it and for assembling all the components to make this such a worthwhile event in a young life." |

Those joining the program will generally fall into one of three categories. Firstly, and this tends to be the largest group, it attracts High School graduates who wish to take courses in Oxford for between a term and a year, as part of an ‘Interim' year experience, and often with a view to improving their chances of securing a place at a good college, either at home or in the UK. This group will include students whose entry to college or university has been deferred, by a semester or a full year.
Secondly, the courses are suitable for High School students in their senior year, or those who need to take additional courses in order to graduate from High School. These students may seek credit for the courses they take, and we arrange this by contacting their home institution, who award the credits, having validated the courses being taken.
The third category consists of college students wishing to take a semester or year in Oxford, to develop their academic skills and to pursue courses of particular interest to them, which may not be available in their home institution. Again, credits may be required and so we liaise carefully with the student's college at home.
In each case, the courses are tailored to suit the individual student, as required, and are taught in a stimulating and student-centred way. The opportunity to study and live in Oxford, working with able tutors, and enjoying the rich cultural and social heritage of this wonderful city, is one that students will recall with appreciation and pleasure throughout their lives.
